Question: Have any unique and relatively cheap wedding invitation ideas?
(Posted by: Aslynn63 on 2007-08-25 07:47:53)
I was thinking of painting the invite on a wooden heart cutout and then making it into a magnet. Then it's kind of a favor and invite all in one.....anyway, any creative ideas are appreciated... my budget also isn't huge so cost effective ideas are great! Thanks! |

You could incorporate origami in your invitations, and if you wanted you could use origami at the reception. Origami paper is not expensive. EDIT: I just wanted to pass along a site which was incredibly helpful to me, I made the invitations, programs, etc myself, too. Its paper-source.com |

Not to shoot your idea down, but the time you buy all the wooden heart cutouts, the paint, the magnetic strips and postage for it, you're going to spend more than it would cost to buy regular invitations. Why not try an online invitation store? I bought mine from thebusybride.com and they were actually about 50% cheaper than any I saw in the magazines or books and turned out beautifully, plus the people were incredibly helpful and accomodating. Good luck |

Create an elaborate powerpoint presentation and either email it or put it on a disc and mail it to your invitees. Very simple and inexpensive. You can include pictures of the two of you together, wedding plans, honeymoon plans, etc. That would look very nice. Dang, I may just have to market this! Then after the wedding and honeymoon is over you could update the powerpoint presentation to include actual wedding photos, honeymoon photos, etc and send to your invitees instead of a thank-you note! |

Http:/ / invitationsbydawn.com/ I've seen invitations at Dawn for as low as $42 per hundred. If you can do it yourself for less than $42 per hundred, then go for it. But if you do not have the time . . . or if you find the cost comes to more than $42 per hundred . . . then I recommend ordering from Dawn. |

If you are doing a less formal wedding you do "message in a bottle " they work for an beach/ seaside theme or any other for that matter. You can add your colors/ theme to it. You can spend a ton of money and have them made and shipped for $4-12 each! OR you can make them yourself for under $2 each including postage. Here's a website i used to order all my stuff and get ideas. Made for you bottlemeamessage.com/ weddingi... Do it youself sandartsupplies.com (you will have to print your own invites on your comp. w/ parchment paper) How to: ebottles.com/ articles/ make-a-... |

This is not so unique, but if you go to a crafts store in the wedding section they sell paper for invitations where you can make your own on the computer. You can word it in any way you want. I didn't use this for my invites, but I used it for my programs. |

If you're looking to save money on your wedding, invitations are not the place to get creative. Your magnet idea is adorable but if for some lucky reason it does cost less than paper, you'll wipe out that saving with posatge. Go to ANY store (I actually stumbled across mine in a dollar store) that sells stationary, find something gorgeous that you like, maybe goes with your theme, and print them yourselves. You can usually find the same pattern in different sizes so you can use it for invitations, reply cards, programs, everything. |

My friends did this for their wedding...they printed their own. They found the correct wording online and picked out paper and did it. There are kits out there, but this way they are totally customized by you. All you need is a printer. You can, if you want, add your own CHEAP embellishments. Hope this helps! |

Okay, the whole wooden heart cut out thing sounds nice and all but who has time for all that while trying to plan the biggest day of your life? Go to Staples, they have do it yourself invitations that you make using your own computer, it takes about 20 minutes and they are cheap, but elegant. They come with the envelopes already in the package, and all you have to do is get the postage, very simple, even your soon to be hubby can do them! Good luck and God bless! |
