Question: Cheap wedding invitations vs. making your own?

I am wondering where to order cheap wedding invitations?! Or I am wondering if it is okay to make your own? Please link me to any websites or programs that may be helpful. Thanks!

I got my Future Mother in law to help us out as we are on a budget! Our color theme is Blood red roses and white! [The blood red roses are for my sister in law whom i never got to meet because she was killed in a car accident and my fiancee was really close to her!] We looked on the internet for Blood red roses and copied the picture then created invites on plain white paper! We then wrote the details on Red rice paper inside the invitation

It is okay to make your own. Just take your time and think out your ideas throughly.

Www.invitationsbydawn.com They have really nice invitations and they are very reasonable on their prices. I have elected to make my own invitations. To me it is more cost effective to do it myself. I will spend about $40 making around 150 invites versus $150 on cheap ones bought somewhere else.

Miss Manners says that it's perfectly correct to use handwritten invitations. You can write them out in the usual formal style, like The pleasure of the company of [insert one name or a couple's names] is requested at the marriage of ... etc Or you can write people friendly letters, like Dear Virg & Mary, Ronald and I will be getting married on ... at ... and hope you both can attend. We're making our own from a kit. We got 200 invitations with all the envelopes and accessories for only $35 thanks to half-off coupons! We're having them printed on a commercial printer where my fiance's mom works so we don't have to use our own ink and the quality will be good. My brother ordered from Invitations by Dawn like someone else suggested, their invitations were low priced and really really beautiful! invitationsbydawn.com Good luck!

I advise making your won versus just getting cheaper ones. I ordered a couple of invitation cataloguesand then priced out making the style(s) I liked myself. To make the same looking styles as in the catalogue was almost 50% less than ordering them. Some of the "cheap " invitations really do look cheap. If you make them yourself (if you are crafty) you can pick some of the most expensive styles and recreate them for less than some "cheap " styles. I used Michael's craft store and LCIpaper.com to price things out. LCI Paper is very inexpensive as long as you live in te US, shipping to Canada can me pricey. Good Luck!

People make their own all the time. Depending on your artistic abilities, they can look even better than many professionally printed invites. Places like Hallmark and Party City have catalogs of the Carlson Craft, etc invites.

Unless you are very comfortable at the computer I would not suggest to making your own... Sometimes you do not really save anything by doing it yourself... After purchasing all the stationary (which can be quite expensive), and ink to print you could have had them made professionally for close to the same cost without the hassle. You should definitely do some internet surfing first and check local party stores in your area before you do them yourself...
