Where to host an engagement party?

Question: Where to host an engagement party?

(Posted by: Steph on 2010-02-03 10:49:39)

My fiance is coming home on leave in May (second half hopefully) and we are having an engagement party. He is interested in a few places in Boston and I have found in Newburyport. Does anyone have any ideas...do not have to be from MA to pitch in ideas....maybe even at our home, very nice with catering?!?!? Thanks!

We're having our engagement party at our new house (after we move in - haven't yet) and I'm making the hors d'oevres and we're having wine and beer. Ours will be kind of be casual with our family and friends.

You should not be hosting your own engagement party. If someone offers to host, you can assist them with ideas of course. Most engagement parties I've been to have been at the host's home.

I have only been to 1 engagement party besides my own, my fiance's friends had it at their farmhouse so all their relatives could come see their land and whatnot who hadn't seen it before. we drove and stayed overnight. it was only 20-30 people and they just had cheese & crackers, not a lot of food which was not good. my engagement party was just our parents and us for a nice $$$ dinner in the town where we live. fine with me!

We celebrated our engagement at the local pools. We simply hired their private functions area that was 2 acres big, we had our own rock pool, a large marque, outdoor bar, outdoor dinning, kitchen facilities, sound system and gorgeous gardens. We were also free to roam the public area of the pools and ride the slides. We booked the place for 9 hours, all 230 of our guests arrived and everyone LOVED!!! it!! The day was relaxing, casual and intimate!! I cant reinforce enough just how much better it is to keep it simple!!
