Question: How do i make my own invitations?
(Posted by: Happee on 2009-10-05 04:40:11)
Which program do I need? Do I do them using word under a special setting? Any recommendations on suppliers of creative stationery? Oh sorry, I forgot to say that I'm in the UK :) |

Try Vistaprint.co.uk Really good website and quite reasonably priced to. You can even uploads photos etc. on there and they will print them and send them to you. I make a calendar every year for my desk at work with pics of all my friends and family taken thorughout the year. |

If the only program you have is word - then you can use that no problem, just make sure you have a couple of nice fonts :) I personally used InDesign to do my wedding invites. I'm not sure where you live, but most stationary suppliers (even news agencies) stock lovely papers and stickers etc. Have a look through those, pick some theme colours to use throughout the invitations, order of service books, even decorations etc, and go from there. The most important thing to think about at this stage is what theme you want for your wedding. Weather it's a colour theme, romantic love theme, fairytale theme or modern funky theme etc - it will give you heaps of ideas for your invites :) Hope this helps!! |

I made my own from scratch (well, not totally from scratch, I found one I liked and "copied " it). Using the photo editing software that's included with Windows XP and Microsoft Word. I found one I liked on line, saved the picture, opened it in my editing software, made whatever changes I needed, inserted the picture into a Word doc, and set it up so I could type over the picture. Piece of cake. If you don't have a picture you're using, word or open office should work just fine. (Sorry, don't know of any stationery suppliers in the UK as I'm in the US!) *ADD* If you don't currently have any fonts you like, go to (I think) fontfreak.com. I'm 99% sure this is where I got mine. You can pay a small fee for all of their fonts, or you can download individual ones for free (I only needed a few, so I just did the free option). |

Making your own wedding invitations can be really simple - all you need is a computer, Microsoft word, a printer and some paper! It's that simple. You'll find loads of advice as to how to make your own wedding invitations (and other wedding stationery on nofreetime.com). There are also loads of different pre-laid out templates for your invitations. So you can download them, replace the text with your wedding details and print it out. The site gives you detailed instructions to follow. Nofreetime also has loads of suggested stationery suppliers to check out to help you buy everything you need to make your own invites and invitation wording examples. Personally, I think the nicest fonts are Lucida Handwriting, Lucida Calligraphy or Bradley Hand ITC. Have fun making your invites. It really is a nice way of adding that personal touch. |

Since you are in the UK you can order online. I recommend InviteSite.com (invitesite.com/ ). They make do-it-yourself invitation kits from eco friendly paper. Their designs are very nice and unique. They can also do the printing for you (optional). |
