Wedding invitations: how long for an rsvp response?

Question: Wedding invitations: how long for an rsvp response?

When I send out my wedding invitations, how long should I give people to RSVP?

The first thing to do is call your caterer. When does he or she need the final head count? You set your RSVP date for a few days before the final head count is needed. You give yourself a few extra days to call those who have not responded. Just give yourself a couple of days to call those who have forgotten to RSVP. So . . . in answer to your question . . . the RSVP date depends on when the caterer needs the final head count of guests who will be attending.

I say 4. If people don't answer by then, I would worry they forgot and you'll have to follow up with them anyhow. Why wait 6?

Deadline for the RSVP responses to be in your hands should be @ one week before the final head count is due to the caterer. That way you have a week to call people and ask if they are coming or not before the caterer would be affected. And invites should be sent out 5- 6 weeks before that. A lot of people need to give more than one month's notice to get off from work if they need to, I used to be one of them.
