Question: Ok i am wanting to make my own wedding invitations can someone please tell me how to do it?

Ok now I am wanting to make my own wedding invitations and know that there's a way to do it through microsoft or paint! I have tried with the paint and it just won't do it at all... Is there a way to make them free online?? Someone please help me out!! I have a high quality printer that would print them perfect just don't know how to start them!!

I tried doing that, but I used Corel Photodraw, where I can insert photos and edit them too. Then I save the final image and inserted it in Word, where I played with the fonts a bit, although you can add the fonts on Corel already. After that, I converted the final .doc file to .pdf and got printing.

I've known people who did this, but they all had previous graphic design experience. You can probably save money just ordering invitations.

Well, I do not think it is a good idea, unless you have a nice professional printer to use. Try vistaprint.com I know they have some free stuff for business, but I am not sure about invitations. I have design background so I can be help with troubleshooting :) As I said - qualiti printing is gonna be the biggest issue. When is your wedding? Good Luck.

The best microsoft program for it is publisher - but it is expensive (unless you're a student) it can be done in word but if you don't have a lot of experience with it it can be difficult and take a while if you do get something you like you can print them at staples (i have to say it i work there) for a lot less than any professional people can! the prepackaged invites that wal-mart, target, staples, etc. carry are AWESOME! they give you templates so it's much easier to figure out and you don't have to worry about backgrounds or borders i've never seen a FREE site for this online - but if you try hard enough you may find one feel free to e-mail me if you have specific questions about how to do something in word :)

I made invitations for my grandparents 50th Anniversary. I used Ivory cardstock from Target, I used a publishing program, can't remember which, but Word could do it... and wrote what I wanted. I adjusted page size, and print settings and ink color, and used a decent printer. I added bows to the top of each invitation.

You can definitely pull together some truly unique wedding invitations by doing it yourself, but be warned. Going the DIY route isn’t always very cost effective. If you are not a ‘crafty’ or computer savvy person, abandon ship immediately! Assuming you are computer savvy and crafty, head down to your favorite paper supply shop (Paper Zone or even a good craft store like JoAnne’s or Michaels). Find the paper you like that will work with the printer you have. There isn’t much point in working up a template before you know what size paper you are printing on! Once you have your paper, envelopes, embellishments and all that jazz, cut out some similarly sized ‘trial’ sheets on standard printer paper. Measure out how much of a margin you want and set those martins in MS Word. Input your invitation text and print out a copy. You’ll likely need to make some fine tuning adjustments after a few trial runs. The best advice I can give if you’re not a MS Word pro – find a friend who is and ask them to help. Most administrative professionals could whip up a template for you in a few minutes. Good luck!

Your wedding invitation is the first glimpse that your guests will have of your wedding. What do you want to say? If you cannot make a quality invitation, it is not worth the effort or money. Many brides I have dealt with have even struggled with the ones that are prepackaged that you print yourself. If your printer isn't a great quality, go order some invitations. There are lots you can get for under $75 and if they are done wrong, it goes back on the printer, not you. You probably have enough to do and don't need to stress out over this. Lots of brides want some kind of DIY thing in their wedding. Please pick something else if this is going to look less than professional, stress you out, or disappoint you with the final product.

I got a Do It Yourself kit (DIY) they are carried at office supply stores and general retail (target, Wal-mart) They have templates but I found it easy enough to measure the dimensions and just program it into Microsoft Word. Take a ruler and figure out the length and width of your invitation - input that into your page layout paper size category - then have fun with wording and fonts. My invitation has a block of color on it so I created a shape (the same size of the block) and put it in the same place on my mock-up. Print out your design on a normal sheet of paper - hold that against your DIY invitation and see how it looks. Tweak as necessary. there are sites that can help you with the wording. marthastewart.com has some fun ideas if you are crafty. They are your invitations so keep in mind what you want them to look like, traditional or something more unique.

It's actually pretty easy. You can do it in Word or Powerpoint. You would set the page size to your invite size. You can set a water mark that you find online, or put it at the top of the page. You would then type the message and print. You're going to need a lot of ink. I suggest buying it off ebay. they have lots of ink that isn't factory ink, but a knock off. It's just as good, that's all I buy. You'd buy the paper at a craft store. there's a couple of videos on youtube that show how to do it good.

My fiance is very computer savvy. He created our Save the dates and our invitations in Photoshop. I am very crafty, so I took all our print outs after wards and pieced them together. My sister is artsy and she is doing all of my calligraphy for me. I did the research and found excellent deals on bulk stationary in our wedding colors, including champagne colored pocket envelopes! I ordered all the stationary and he worked on all the pages for the invitations. We have the invitation page, then the RSVP information and the accommodations on separate cards that go into the pocket of our envelopes. We created everything and then took them to be printed at Kinko's. Our save the dates, he created and then we bought them through vistaprint.com because I wanted them to be magnets. Our total cost for save the dates, stationary, outer envelopes, inner pocket envelopes, printing, and postage is under 300. This is for 100 invitations, 100 save the dates.
