Question: When does the wedding rehearsal generally take place?
(Posted by: tulee6 on 2008-09-30 20:59:54)
I am one of 3 bridesmaids for my future sister in law's wedding this weekend. I live interstate and so far has done everything she asked. I found out last weekend they had the rehearsal, however i am flying out to them this friday so i would be there for the rehearsal - i assumed all rehearsals are generally the night before the wedding. I was also told i am the first to walk down the aisle. I am so worried now because i have no idea what the venue looks like, where i'll be walking, where i'm supposed to stand, etc etc. I'm not sure why they've chosen to put me first when i'm the only one that doesnt know what to do. I wouldnt mind at all if i'm second because then i can watch and just do what the first girl does.... Am i making any sense?! Anyway, back to my question... Is it "traditional " to have the rehearsal the night before the wedding - or have i got it totally wrong..? Thanks.. |

You are right, traditionally the rehearsal is held the evening before the wedding. The venue that she chose may be so heavily booked that she was unable to do so. Typically the bridesmaids process in reverse order, meaning that the bridesmaid that walks up first will be standing farthest away from the bride during the ceremony. This may be why you are going first (no offense). Ask her maid of honor is she would mind going to the venue with you the morning of, or evening before, the wedding and go over what is expected of you. Hope this helps :O) |

Usually it is tradition to have the wedding the night before the wedding. One of the biggest reasons for this (I think) is exactly your situation, the people in the wedding party who live out of town. There are plenty of reasons why they might have had the rehearsal earlier though. If it's a venue that's popular and might have something already booked the night before, if there's another big event that night, etc. |

You generally hold the rehearsal sometime in the week before the wedding. We had ours 2 days before our wedding. |
