Wedding rehearsal/ rehearsal dinner?

Question: Wedding rehearsal/ rehearsal dinner?

(Posted by: la_flaca0688 on 2009-10-26 06:45:53)

I am getting married in May and am trying to figure out what to do with our wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. Our ceremony will be outdoors for our wedding, so we want to have the rehearsal outside so that we can get more of a feel for what it will be like. Is is okay to have the rehearsal at my parents house? Is that weird and should I be having it at the actual venue? All this adds more cost, so we were thinking rehearsal at parents house and BBQ afterwords there too. Is this okay? Okay, here I am just talking about the actual rehearsal. Is it okay to have it somewhere else other then the wedding venue (a country club)? Dinner will definitely be somewhere else other than the venue, but I was asking if my parents house was okay or if we should go to a restaurant.

Unless you are planning something strange, the rehersal is really just a formality and a method to make sure everyone in the wedding party gets there a day early. If the ceremony is being done by a pastor / priest they may want you to go to church for a walkthrough. Inside or outside doesnt matter.

No don't have it at the venue!!! That completely takes away from the actually wedding dinner. I've never heard of anyone doing that. My fiance's brother had their rehearsal dinner at their parents home. A few friends helped and brought food items too. This is perfectly fine. It does not HAVE to be a fancy dinner. It can be whatever you want!

That sounds fine. It's always good to have the actual rehearsal (not necessarily the dinner) at the venue though. It helps people see what they will actually be doing. We had the rehearsal at the venue, and moved to a different place at the same resort to have the dinner. We had the dinner outside and we served gourmet pizza :)

OK...I think this question may be a bit confusing for some. Definitely DO have the rehearsal itself at the venue. Everyone needs to know where to stand, etc. and this really is best done at the actual site of the wedding...not at your parent's home. However, you do NOT need to have the dinner at the venue. Yes, a BBQ at your parents house would be perfect! We had my son's rehearsal dinner in our backyard! Good luck.
